About the Course:

Being able to properly conduct backing maneuvers in difficult situations is a skill that can never be underestimated. Insurance carriers report massive losses due to Commercial Drivers backing into buildings, equipment, fences, or other hazards due to backing mishaps. Our course will cover the importance of backing skills and maneuvers to help limit costly mistakes to your company. This course will cover the importance of backing to limit insurance payouts and limit unsafe practices by drivers. It will cover skills such as Alley Docking, Parallel Parking, Straight Line and Off-set Parking as well as planning and maneuvering strange and unique circumstances. Coaching and training drivers both initially and on a recurring basis has been proven to limit incidents while out on the job and this course will provide managers the tools needed to limit costly mistakes.

The objective of this course Backing Maneuvers Course is to equip operators of all experience levels, from entry-level to veteran drivers, with the essential skills for safe Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) operation. While backing maneuvers make up a small portion of a driver’s overall time behind the wheel, they are the leading cause of costly crashes and incidents in the trucking industry. These accidents can damage property, injure individuals, and even result in fatalities. By equipping drivers with the knowledge and skills to navigate backing maneuvers confidently, this program aims to significantly reduce the number of backing accidents on the road.

About the Course Director:

Jolyn Graham is Vice President of Operations at CNS Driver Training Center and has worked in the trucking industry as a Commercial Truck Driver for the past 10 years with experience ranging from a large pickup truck and trailer to Class A tractor-trailer hauling oversized loads.
